Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using the SelfServe application ("App"), you ("Merchant" or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
SelfServe is a Shopify embedded application that provides post-purchase order editing, order cancellation management, post-purchase upsell functionality, automated order tagging, and notification services for Shopify merchants. The App operates within the Shopify platform and is subject to Shopify's own terms and policies.
3. Account & Access
You must have an active Shopify store to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Shopify account and for all activity that occurs through the App under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during installation and configuration.
4. Merchant Responsibilities
You are responsible for configuring the App appropriately for your business, including setting editing windows, restrictions, cancellation rules, and upsell configurations. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the App complies with your own privacy policy, terms of service, and all applicable laws. You are responsible for communicating your order editing and cancellation policies to your End Customers. SelfServe provides the tools; you define and enforce your own policies.
5. End Customer Interactions
End Customers interact with the SelfServe portal as configured by the Merchant. Merchants are responsible for the experience they create, including which features are enabled, what restrictions are set, and how policies are communicated. SelfServe is not a party to the transaction between Merchant and End Customer.
6. Payment & Billing
Billing is handled through the Shopify App Store billing system. By installing the App, you authorize charges through Shopify's billing infrastructure. Pricing is as listed at [selfserve.app/pricing]. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' written notice. Refunds are handled per our refund policy and Shopify's billing terms.
7. Order Edit Payment Processing
When an End Customer edits an order and the total changes, SelfServe initiates a payment collection or refund through Shopify's payment system. If an End Customer fails to complete a required payment within the configured timeout period (default: 15 minutes), the App will automatically revert the order to its pre-edit state. SelfServe is not liable for any issues arising from Shopify's payment processing, including failed charges, delayed refunds, or payment disputes.
8. Data Handling
Our collection and use of data is described in our Privacy Policy at [selfserve.app/privacy-policy]. You agree that we may process Merchant data and End Customer order data as described therein.
9. Intellectual Property
The App, including all code, design, documentation, and content, is the intellectual property of [Company Name]. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for the duration of your subscription. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or distribute the App.
10. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the App to: violate any applicable law or regulation; process fraudulent orders or engage in deceptive practices; interfere with the App's operation or security; exceed usage limits through automated or abusive means; or resell access to the App without our written permission.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SelfServe shall not be liable for: any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages; lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data; errors in payment processing, inventory management, or order fulfillment; or damages arising from End Customer actions through the editing portal.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless [Company Name] from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App, your configuration of the App, or your End Customers' interactions with the editing portal.
13. Service Availability
We strive for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability. We will provide reasonable notice of planned downtime.
14. Termination
You may terminate your use of the App at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify store. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, fail to pay for the service, or use the App in a way that harms our platform or other users.
15. Modifications
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Jurisdiction]. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of [Jurisdiction].
